Save the file and restart Gemini CLI.

Ask for something pubmed_europepmc_search does. Gemini CLI lists the server's tools on connect and calls pubmed_europepmc_search itself — you do not invoke it by name.

If nothing happens, check the server is running and that pubmed mcp server's identifier in your config matches the one above exactly.
