Add Git to Claude Code

    Run this in your project directory. 

claude mcp add git -- uvx mcp-server-git

    Restart your session so the server is picked up.

  2. 03

    Ask for something git_create_branch does. Claude Code lists the server's tools on connect and calls git_create_branch itself — you do not invoke it by name.

  3. 04

    If nothing happens, check the server is running and that Git's identifier in your config matches the one above exactly.
