Add Filesystem to Claude Code

1. 01

   Run this in your project directory.

claude mcp add server-filesystem -- npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem

2. 02

   Restart your session so the server is picked up.

3. 03

   Ask for something create_directory does. Claude Code lists the server's tools on connect and calls create_directory itself — you do not invoke it by name.

4. 04

   If nothing happens, check the server is running and that Filesystem's identifier in your config matches the one above exactly.
