Add Filesystem to Claude Code

    Run this in your project directory. 

claude mcp add server-filesystem -- npx -y @modelcontextprotocol/server-filesystem

    Restart your session so the server is picked up.

  2. 03

    Ask for something list_allowed_directories does. Claude Code lists the server's tools on connect and calls list_allowed_directories itself — you do not invoke it by name.

  3. 04

    If nothing happens, check the server is running and that Filesystem's identifier in your config matches the one above exactly.
